The Indian Railways has been serving the people of India with utmost pride for more than two centuries. Indian Railways has the distinction of being largest rail network in Asia and the world's second largest. Its work force is 1.65 million and it runs some 11,000 trains everyday, including 7,000 passenger trains. Indian Railways generates lots of jobs every year to the Indian Nationals. Indian railways are broadly divided and sub-divided into zones, divisions and departments. These divisions have technical and non-technical departments to which the recruitments are done through Competitive Exams which are conducted by Union public service commission (UPSC) and Railway Recruitment Board (RRB).

There are three groups of officers in Indian Railways - Group A officers are recruited by UPSC, Group B officers are directly promoted from Group C, Group C officers are recruited through the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB). Union public service commission (UPSC) and Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) conducts competitive examinations for these services,
